Pocono Home Rentals Near Lake Wallenpaupack

Our Pocono Home Rentals are located just ten minutes from Lake Wallenpaupack.  This large lake covers 5,700 acres and is 13 ½ miles long.  There are 52 miles of shoreline for exploring, and six recreational areas which feature picnic areas, walking trails, boat slips, and hundreds of acres of forest lands.  Lake Wallenpaupack is a man made lake that was formed in 1927 by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for hydroelectric power.

Lake Wallenpaupack has since become a major recreational and tourism area in the Poconos.  There are several marinas nearby to Pocono Home Rentals that offer our guests boat launch areas, Jet ski rentals, and power boat rentals.  There are also a variety of parks perfect for swimming, fishing, picnics, and just relaxing.  The size of the lake makes it perfect for boating, jet skiing, water skiing, and water tubing.

There are several excellent restaurants on Lake Wallenpaupack.  These are accessible both by boat and by car.  There are also a variety of other activities around the lake as well.  Guests of Pocono Home Rentals can also enjoy the many antique shops around the lake.  Additionally, there are several golf courses, horseback riding stables, paintball, a spa, and much more for you to enjoy.

Guests of Pocono Home Rentals may enjoy the great fishing at well stocked Lake Wallenpaupack.  Lake fish include large mouth bass, small mouth bass, rock bass, walleye, and pickerel.  There are also rainbow trout, brown trout, catfish, yellow perch, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, and muskellunge (muskie), a relatively rare freshwater fish.

Our Pocono Home Rentals are in Wayne County, and Lake Wallenpaupack is right on the border of Wayne and Pike counties.  The area is rich with history.  Wallenpaupack was so named by the Lenape tribe of Native Americans, and means “the stream of swift and slow water.”  Another interesting historical fact regarding the region involves William Penn and the original parcel of land.  The original survey of the lake region near Pocono Home Rentals shows a land conveyance to James Wilson from the estate of William Penn.  James Wilson was one of just four men who signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.  James Wilson was also on the First Supreme Court of the U.S, appointed by George Washington.
