This large lake covers 5,700 acres and is 13 ½ miles long.
There are 52 miles of shoreline for exploring, and six recreational
areas which feature picnic areas, walking trails, boat slips, and
hundreds of acres of forest lands.
Lake Wallenpaupack is a man made lake that was formed in
1927 by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for hydroelectric
power.
Lake Wallenpaupack
has since become a major recreational and tourism area in the Poconos.

offer our guests boat launch areas, Jet ski rentals, and power boat
rentals. There are also a variety of parks perfect for swimming, fishing,

Wallenpaupack was so named by the Lenape tribe of Native
Americans, and means “the stream of swift and slow water.”

involves William Penn and the original parcel of land.

shows a land conveyance to James Wilson from the estate of William
Penn. James Wilson
was one of just four men who signed both the Declaration of Independence
and the Constitution of the United States.
James Wilson was also on the First Supreme Court of the U.S,
appointed by George Washington.
